I knew I would love "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World." I fell in complete love with all the trailers. I watched with dismay as it was given a desperation hype followed by disappointing box office. Was my love misplaced? Was I going to have my movie loving heart dashed? Would I be disappointed?
No.
No, no no! The very second they gave the Universal logo an 8 bit makeover I knew I was in right hands. This film rocked, this film rolled, this film had all the cheat codes. If you believe me about nothing else, if you doubt my tastes, please do not doubt this. I finished the film wanting to jump, to dance, to do spin kicks in the air. I felt ten years younger.
Scott Pilgrim is a slacker's slacke. He's so slack he has nothing better to do than to hang around with his band, or at his room one one bedroom apartment, or date the cute high school girl Knives. It all changes when he meets in a dream Ramona who is instantly THE girl of his dreams. But to win her he has to fight her seven evil exes. But Scott has hidden reserves of video game fighting ability.
This is a very clever film about how we are haunted by our past relationships and relationships of other. Is there a guy who hasn't worried that he doesn't measure up to his date's last boyfriend? This is a fast, fast, funny movie and don't get me started about the editing. It is to weep for. Love this film with mad passion. Watch it!
