A question of timing

When is it more important to have the keys?
When the gate is closed?
Or opened?

  1. Depends on the situation. Seemed like an easy "When it's closed", but if you think about, it gets convoluted and becomes a, well...it depends. Locked in and wanting out, you'd certainly want the keys. Locked out and wanting in, you'd want them. But, if the gates were open and something fierce and nasty were chasing you, it'd be nice to lock them up tight, quick-like, before running on....

  2. keys are good anytime. If nothing else you can always throw them at someone as you run.

  3. If your life is ruled by fear, it's more important to have the keys when the gate is open.

If your life is ruled by hope, it's more important to have the keys when the gate is closed.
