A smile behind a glass wall

Genetically altering certain animals with human dna is frowned on.  Despite the ethical concerns the creatures themselves are often quite happy, never understanding why we are disgusted when they try to hug us with slimey limbs.  They shrug, if they have shoulders, and go back to their own world.  They aren't vengeful frankensteins but happy children of ages that will never be.

  1. Poignant. It's true and sad. Like so many who aren't hybrids, just different from the designated "norm". And fortunately for all of us, they do tend toward a sweet temperament.
