Aaah! Zombies!!

I think one of the experiences we've all shared is that moment when we are talking with someone. We think we are making perfect, coherent sense. Laying it point by point with great elan. However, for some reason (Perhaps too much party, maybe just after oral surgery, or head trauma even) the person listening is just hearing; "Argle blragle raggg." This is the heart of the comedy of "Aaah! Zombies!!"

We have four luckless people who manage to taste the wrong ice cream. Instead of getting a headache they become zombies. But they don't realize it. To them it looks like everyone else is tripping out on chipmunk cocaine. The film underscores this difference in perception by having the "Real" world in Romero black and white, and our heroes' perception in bright color.

Admittedly the humor here doesn't always work. The actors are game, but they are as about as good as one can expect from an independent zombie film. The script sometimes just misfires. Still, even if it isn't top tier of zombie comedies, it is a refreshing little film. Certainly, it gives me a moment of pause to wonder just what zombies are thinking.

Then I blow their heads away.
