Today's Secret Code for August 2nd, 2010
"To begin a thing is to create a new story, even the empire state building had to start with the first story." Again: "To being a thing is to create a new story, even the empire state building had to start with the first story." Today's colour is a shade you the reader has not defined. Today's author you the reader has not yet described. That is not all, maho maho.

The Score
It is the end game that matters, my podling. Everything else is just positioning it. Everything after, just justification. Your move.Sands of Destruction
Ah Japan, I've said it before but I'll say it again: W...T....F??? "Sands of Destruction" is freaky weird masked as a pokemon type anime. So, in this world the seas are made of sand and animals rule humans. It's sort of a cross between Dune and Planet of the Apes. Our pretty heroine wants nothing less to destroy the world. Utterly.
Destroy.
The.
World.
And she's our plucky protagonist. She is carrying with her a little sphere called the "Destruct Code," and she plans to use it as soon as she figures out how to use it. She's being chased by the committee of world salvation which of course doesn't want the world to go "bamf." As they chase her, she gets involved with another human who's a fairly nice guy, and a little bear who ends every sentence with "Kuma" Will they save or destroy the world? Frankly I haven't a clue fans. This is so whacked out a concept that it can go anyway.
It's fun though if you are of the "Pokemon" or "One Piece," school of anime. Not serious by a long shot it has a fun sense of adventure. Again though, Japan please... WTF???!!!!

Operation: Endgame
Well I don't know how I feel about this one. It's a film that features comedians. It does not however try to be funny. It does, however, have a lot of death by office supplies so I guess that's a little funny. It was trying I think for more a Dr. Strangelove funny than a three stooges funny, but it was just generally strange.
There's a secret bunker full of secret agent killers. These aren't James Bond. For their entry interview they have to kill a puppy. They are divided into two teams: Alpha and Omega. Everyone has the code name of tarot cards. They are led by the Devil, who was more a distracted individual than diabolic.
The movie starts with someone starting his first day on the job. He's been given the code name of "The Fool." He's being given the grand tour by a drunken burnt out case. Then the Devil winds up dead, the bunker gets sealed, and there is a bomb about to go off. Don't you hate first days like that?
This reminds me old IRS films where the weird factor sort of overwhelms everything else in the script (eg. The Blue Iguana). Do yourself a favor, don't look at who stars in it, and just pop it in the ol' dvd player. It makes it more fun when you say.. HEY IT'S SO AND SO! It's about the best part of the film. Since that is the best part of the film I have to say this film is a fail, but an interesting one! More Strangepork than Strangelove.

A fragment....
As Jon-A-Thing looked up the light filtered and shifted down in glittery swirls. This is more literal than otherwise since light tended to act far more as a particle than a wave to those that travelled on one of the great Slows. It bothered some of the passengers, but while the rich could be choosers it was sometimes beneath them and bad form. Besides there was always a party down below in the suffling hands.
Jon-A-Thing was not interested in parties. It is true he was dressed with the sheen of well honed style that caught the eye short of being garish. It is true he carries in one hand a fluted glass cone filled with the latest thing to drink. It was selectively cool and sometimes as he sipped it was so cold as to make his tongue ache delightfully and his breath came out in a small cloud. These things though were a costume. He had no care for the high society down in the lower shuffling hands. What he cared for elsewhere.
So it was with care that he picked his way toward the Eye of the great Slow. She was there, as he knew she would be. She was looking from the eye into the great untraveled ways. Her hand lightly griped the rail lightly. She was almost absently petting the pitted metal surface as if it was a small pet. It was the closest thing Jon-A-Thing ever saw her demonstrated as a symptom of compassion.
Bravely then, did Jon-A-Thing walk quietly behind Madgna-Destroyer-of-Worlds. It was an old dance with them.

Today's Secret Code for August 1st, 2010
"Today is finally Son day. It's a new day, and a bright shining one at that." Again: "Today is fainally Son day. It's a new day, and a bright shining one at that." Today's colour is goldenly, buttery gold. Today's author is in repose. That is all, maho maho.
