Strange Angel in Furious Repose

Strange Angels have no moral for you, but they do have morals. They must. An angel is equal parts passion and law. That is their blessing and flaw. When the two parts collide, and they cannot decide. An angel, strange or otherwise, is trapped by his own nature. A fractured, befated creature in anguish amber. A pillar of himself.

Today's secret code for August 3rd, 2010

"In a fable, one cannot have the moral without first the end of the fable. So the moral is ultimately, 'End the fabulous, wonderful tale and what is left is a new rule." Again: "In a fable, one cannot have the moral without first the end of the fable. So the moral is ultimately, 'End the fabulous, wonderful tale and what is left is a new rule." Today's colour is primary. Today's author is thoughtful. That is all, maho maho.

Ghost Rat

Even lower animals can have ghosts. When it happens it is bad indeed. A rat ghost has no self doubts, no lingering guilts. Just a growing, gnawing, hunger.

On Invitations to Faywood...

There are some lights it is best not to step into. Some hands it would be better not to take. Never read fortune cookies in bed, and never have sex in a chinese restaurant. Never pull on superman's cape, and never never call the Fair Folk "fairies" in the deep dark wood.

Doctor XXX

The Doctor will see through you now.

Battle Planet

"Battle Planet" is a cheap science fiction film, and good God we need more of them. I am so tired of vampire, zombie, slasher films. I would like more films like this even if they aren't four stars. "Battle Planet" is certainly not four stars but it tries and that's important. It reminds me of the good things about the old Roger Corman machine.

Our hero is sealed into a bickering exo suit and sent to an alien planet on a pressing mission. There he meets a female alien who oddly enough doesn't look like someone air brushed for Captain Kirk's playboy. Together they fight native aliens, a dwarf (Definitely that was a nod to roger corman/band), and high tech troops. The special effects are not "Avatar" but in a wonderful way. Very little CG is used and the make up of the aliens reminds me a lot of good old star trek tv.

Certainly if you like sf you might want a look.
