Last Night's Dream

I awake
In a capsule
six berths
but alone

Head hurts
can't remember
soothing voice
you are fine

I am in a life pod
my ship is gone
all hands lost
just me
and the
pod

pod is helpful
but damaged
can't call for help
but programmed to keep me alive
has about ten seconds
of self awareness
a day

Things become tense
pod is convinced
was damaged before ship
was destroyed
convinced I did it
saboteur

I can't defend myself
I can't remember
pod tries to get me confess
freezes me
staves me
but can't kill me

I hold on
I try to kill the brain
we plot against each other
then the pod shows a search ship
in the distant
the pod will signal with engines
but only if I confess

Do I confess even if I don't know myself?
Can I trust the pod?
I don't know.
I awake from the dream unfinished.
