An odd choice perhaps. There are folks that are bigger, more well armed and certainly more fearsome than some little girl. But Arya stood up to a King and escaped from a large force of armed men. So she is both brave and resourceful. Add to the fact that she was beginning training with a swordstyle not usually seen in Westro and you have a little girl who can give a big surprise.
