I've mentioned in the past that I was a terrific game nerd. One thing our particular group loved were the super hero games, specially "Champions." We liked the super hero genre because we were all at the time comic book fans. Also, to be honest, we tended to be horrible power gamers so making the ultimate super hero was a challenge to everyone. We liked the Champions system because it allowed you to do anything if you were willing roll up your sleeve and deal with lots of dice and fractions. For example, after converting from the DC official game system Superman would roll 250 dice for a punch.
No one in our group was ever as strong as Superman.
I tended to either run the game or to run little heroes. In some cases literally like with Professor Mole. Professor Mole while in need of glasses was named for the unit of measurement not the small mammal. His story was simple, he was a science nerd that super heroes would turn to for help when stumped. One day he gets zapped and turns small. Luckily, he has enough super science know how to make a suit that allows him to grow back to normal size.
Actually, I gave the professor three powers. The first was to get real small which can be useful. The second was to be able to teleport short distances when real small. I justfied it with some quantum science marlarky goob gooble but really it was practical. When you are the size of a flea you need some way to get around the room. The final power was that his whole body had changed gaining power from the strong nuclear force around him. This meant he didn't need to breath, drink or eat. He wasn't much good in a fight but he could always have the element of surprise by shrinking, teleporting, growing and then attacking from behind.
How about you dear readers? Did you ever make up a super hero?
