Thinking Outside of Coffin Boxes

If one is going to make a low budget film, one has to think of budget as well as creativity. A really good idea should be able to address both poles. For example, take your average zombie flick. The costs are fairly low except generally you have to make up a lot of extras with zombie make up. How could one keep the costs low and still have an interesting film? This is one way I would handle it:

I'd have someone in the military who handles number find a financial black hole. He goes to his superior but his superior knows nothing about it. Wondering if someone has gone rogue the superior, the bean counter and others in a hastily form team visit the site where everything seems to be happening.

There they discover there is indeed a rogue weapons program. They have taken a volunteer and cloned him, and then doped up the clone with enhanced genetic potential. The first clone, named alpha, was such a success that they are now growing a whole batch of clones down stairs.

Our heroes are aghast. It's totally unethical, and so they force the scientists to shut it all down. The scientists are upset of course but they do kill all the clones and start washing the tubes in an acid bath. In a few hours there will be nothing left.

Unfortunately for everyone, no one has ever tried to shut down a genetically altered clone before. Though "dead" they come to life and burst out of the tubes. Now disfigured, the clones lurch around trying to kill everyone. Now scientists, military, and the Alpha clone must work together or be torn apart.

The genius of this idea is that I just need to find some twins to fill out the roles of the volunteer, Alpha, and the clones. Add a few optical shots of the "army" of clones and then I can just keep reusing the twins in zombie make up as the zombie clones.

What do you think?
