Currently on Comedy Central, "Ugly Americans" harkens back to the earlier days of MTV animation. It's crude both in form and in content and tries for a shotgun of comedy effect. It has our hero who is a normal human being a definite minority in New York filled with monsters. He's rather like Candide in that he is naive and believes only in the best of his non human compatriots even though his roommate is a zombie lusting for his brain and his girl friend lusting over his body and soul.
It's actually fairly funny and does swat you over the head too much about societal issues. It works best with the character's weirdness. Last night, for example, Leonard the wizard is temporarily dead. Now he's five hundred dolly leonards running around like lawn gnomes on ADD. Mark our hero is faced with the challenge that the only way to get the real Leonard back is to kill each of his little selves till there is only one left. Luckily, little leonards are pretty prone to offing each other and themselves accidently. It becomes all rather ghoulishly monty python.
Oh and there was an undead Abe Lincoln sub plot. Did you know he invented the sun roof? For his hat of course.
If you don't mind silly and gross it's certainly a fun half hour of TV.
It is an interesting show. It rides close to disturbing on a lot of topics and artwork. Last nights little wee men were great! It is an eclectic blend of creatures and presents a good example for getting along with all types.
