Watching the Bold Bravely

Most comic book nerds were happy when Batman became less camp and more serious. Most enjoyed Tim Burton's first two outings with the bat and the last two directed by Mr. inception himself. Still, most comic fans have their love mostly for the series of cartoons batman has appeared done by Warner Brothers. They are true to the characters, have a definable look that does not over take the stories, and are suprisingly well written and acted. Everyone can point to their favorite whether it is is Bat: the Animated series, Batman Beyond, or the Justice League. Each has their sweet sweet moments.

Lately I've become a fan of the brave and the bold because it boldly takes a step backwards towards silliness. Before I get stoned by bat fans, I do dig the serious bats. But seriously, sometimes it does get a little old. If there is one thing that comics have it is a plethora of wonderful silliness to mine and the brave and the bold does it with aplomb.

Last night's episode for example was aperific! You had Batman and Detective Chimp (A chimp who is a detective talking sort of like a british maxwell smart) going up against Gorilla Grodd. Gorilla Grodd is being helped by an army of apes along with the Gorilla Boss of Gotham City (yes he did appear in the comics) and Monseiur Mallah who is a personal favorite of mine being a FRENCH ape with revolutionary leanings who used to work with the Brain (and at least one comic was his lover) MEANWHILE, back in gotham, the city is being protected by Vixen who can call upon animal powers and the Bwana Beast. The Bwana Beast is seriously weird as a superhero. He's dressed as Tarzen but with a mask. He can do the whole talk and control animal thing but his real power is he can take animals and combine them. So he can take a Cat and a horse and create a giant purring horror called a Corse, or is that a Hat?

This my dear readers is some seriously weird shit, and I eats it with a spoon and a grin. Give this a view when life seems to dank and serious.
