Well I can't say I had high hopes for this, in fact to have any hopes for a syfy film is a sign you are high. But, I was willing to watch and hope for the best. The beginning was actually decent looking. Someone running away from some oddly suited up people in the jungle. There was a promise.
Oh how soon broken.
When the story gets a rolling it comes down like this. A team of archaelogists/grave robbers/profesional soldiers of fortunes are in this backwater area of the jungle looking for conquistador's grave and loot there in. But a hidden and lost tribe of natives is not having any of it. So the boss comes cause he wants the loot dang it, and the natives unleash the beast of the jungle which is.... bad cgi vines.
I got to say who ever was in charge of this turkey did try. There were one or two scenes of action that were competent. A couple of actors actually gave it a go. But a bad script and bad CGI once again comes in to trounce on the fun.
Minor point of annoyance. This has nothing to do with a Mandrake. In folklore, mandrakes were a european vegetation that people believed had great mystical power cause the roots were human like in shape.
